Whenever I watch a 10/10 anime, I always look forward to other adaptations from the same author. So, Kashou was quite content to learn that Hyuganatsu’s The Failure at God School (Kami-sama Gakkou no Ochikobore) is getting an anime adaptation. While the anime’s production committee has yet to announce a premiere date or cast members, it has released a promo visual and launched an official website. The production team also launched a “reading campaign” that allows fans and random otaku to read select chapters of the manga on Manga Park and Hakusensha’s online store. RIP non-Japanese speakers. It’s only the manga’s Japanese version.

The Failure at God School takes place in a version of Japan where “Gods” are merely humans with supernatural powers. These humans, known as Himiko, are vetted by the Japanese government before being sent to shrines, where they act as the temple’s local deity. While most see that life as a far-away dream, it’s Nagi Hibiya’s life. The kawaii heroine’s grandmom was their town’s deity! But her grandmother’s early death left the town’s temple vacant.
Typically, Nagi or her twin brother Takeru would take their grandma’s position, but there’s a slight issue. Nagi lacks supernatural powers. Plus, she lacks rizz and frequently sports $30 haircuts. Takeru, on the other hand, has supernatural abilities, but losing his grandmother turned him into a hikikomori. The only way Nagi knows that her brother is alive is because he communicates with her telepathically (much to her annoyance)! But little does she know that her attempts to stop him from communicating with her are the reason why she’ll become a Himiko!
The Failure at God School Deets!
Hyuganatsu (The Apothecary Diaries’ author) and Modomu Akagawara (illustrator) debuted The Failure at God School on August 5, 2021. Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine has serialized the manga since its debut. Kami-sama Gakkou no Ochikobore currently boasts fifteen tankoubon volumes. Yen Press releases the manga’s English translation. Hyuganatsu and Modomu also released The Failure at God School’s light novel. Kodansha has released five volumes of the light novel through their Seikaisha Fictions light novel imprint.
We’re currently out of The Apothecary Diaries goods. So, Kashou can’t try to free you from the clutches of your excess money. Or so you’d think…

We stock the multi-language Switch port of Kogado Studio’s visual novel, Dear Mirror Flower. Much like Kami-sama Gakkou no Ochikobore, Dear Mirror Flower takes place in a version of Japan where the supernatural, telekinesis, telekinetic yetis, and kawaii waifus abound.
Dear Mirror Flower is available for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. However, do note that while Nintendo says Japanese cartridges work globally, they can’t guarantee full service and support.
