Studio Wao World has answered fans’ prayers and returned to Midgard! The studio’s diverse log of anime series, ranging from time travel to magical girls, makes it a perfect fit for this MMORPG isekai series with its gender-swapped protagonist of A Wild Last Boss Appeared! (Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta!). It’s been almost a year since we last saw Lufas, and it won’t be much longer until we see what she does next to challenge the goddess in Season 2.

Lufas will make her grand return as the strongest overlord sometime in October 2026. Yūya Horiuchi sits as the director, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu wields the pen, Toko Nakamura designs the characters, and Technoboys Pulcraft Green-Fund provides the epic anime music. Suspended 4th is performing the opening theme song “Melodic Impact.”

The isekai protagonist and his/her close friends are as follows:

Lufas Maphaahl — Ami Koshimizu (Yang Xiao Long from RWBY: Ice Queendom). Lufas is a top-ranked gamer who once ruled the digital world.
Dina — Yuri Usui (Rie Maruboshi from Puniru Is a Cute Slime). Dina is a mysterious girl who greeted Lufas in the Maphaahl Tower.
Benetnasch — Satomi Akesaka (Akasaka Misato from Uma Musume Pretty Derby). Benetnasch is one of the original Seven Heroes, the Vampire Queen, and Lufas’ friend.

Studio Wao World will animate the anime adaptation, which has an official website and Twitter (X) accounts promoting A Wild Last Boss Appeared!. You can find more information about the series and the key visuals at those sites.

A Wild Last Boss Appeared! But She’s Hot, and She’s Saving People.

For fans keeping track of where the anime ends and the manga continues, episode 12 ends in the middle of chapter 20. Ideally, the second season would pick up right from there, where the new Lufas decides to carry out the original Lufas’ mission to take on an actual goddess. If we’re making wishes, I want them to talk about Phecda, one of the Seven Heroes. Why? He’s the king of Frodi, the hobbit country.

The PV reintroduces some characters, primarily Lufas’ Twelve Heavenly Stars. Highlights include the pink-haired waifu Virgo, the dangerous and hot Scorpius, and Kastor, one-half of Gemini and someone who really reminds me of Fate Stay/night‘s Gilgamesh. It’s not just his hair; it’s his magic skill that shoots golden-colored bolts from behind him. As cool as he is, Scorpius steals the show for a couple of great reasons. There’s no romance in this series, or we could ask if it’s yuri if a gender-swapped character romances a girl (like Scorpius).

Firehead and YahaKo released the original A Wild Last Boss Appeared! light novel from February 15th, 2016, to April 15th, 2019. Earth Star Entertainment published all nine volumes in the Earth Star Novel imprint. Tsubasa Hazuki provided the art for the manga adaptation, which debuted on June 7th, 2017. Earth Star Entertainment has published eleven volumes in Comic Earth Star. Studio Wao World’s anime adaptation premiered on October 4th, 2025.
