How Did Naomi Ōzora Become Japan’s Most Unique Seiyu?
Naomi Ōzora was born on February 4, 1989, in Miyagi Prefecture in northern Japan, but moved around several times growing up. She grew up loving Toei Animation like Dragon Ball and Kinnikuman, and always noted the Aoni Production credit in the end credits. This made her curious about what it would be like to become a seiyu herself someday. She would eventually enroll in Aoni Juku Osaka, a voice training school operated by the talent agency, and eventually sign with the company.
As she was trying to break into voice acting, she appeared in a live-action TV show called Shiawase! Bonbi Girl, which challenged young people to try to survive on just 50,000 yen (currently US$319) for a whole month. She would eat bread crusts flavored with yakiniku sauce to get through the month, all while continuing with her voice training. Her hard work paid off!
Naomi’s hobbies are drawing, piano, and playing the quena, a South American flute. She’s also interested in English, and has taken the pre-level 2 of the standardized Eiken test. She also loves putting Gundam models together!
What Are Naomi Ōzora’s Most Memorable Voice Roles?
Let’s explore the most popular anime characters voiced by Naomi Ozara, with YouTube clips for you to enjoy!
Satanichia “Satania” Kurumizawa McDowell Was Her Most Famous Role
Gabriel DropOut is the story of an angel who descends to Earth to study humanity. There she meets the hilarious Satania, a demon girl who’s always embarrassing herself in surprising ways. The character was so popular with anime fans, I suggested to Tamatoys that they make a parody onahole based on her. They took my advice, and we sold at least 4,000 of these ero toys for them over the years.
Uzaki-chan Made Us Want to Date an Annoying Girl
One of Naomi Ōzora’s most memorable characters was Uzaki-chan, an annoying university student who always wants to hang out with her senpai, playing video games and slowly falling in love. Despite the voluptuous design of the character, it’s one of the best romance stories around.
Jahy-sama from The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!
Another character who only Naomi Ōzora could play is Jahy, a demon lord who found herself in the body of a child when she transferred to the human world. No one else could voice the haughty Jahy-sama as well!

Kiriha from Tsugumomo
Tsugumomo is the perfect ecchi anime, filled with fun set-ups and visual gags for fans to enjoy. We got two seasons, but it would be great to get one more someday.
Chio from Chio-chan no Tsuugakuro
An anime that sadly didn’t get as much attention as it deserved, Chio-chan’s Route to School was a short anime about the ridiculous things that happened to Chio as she went to school each day.
Chieri Ogata from Idolmaster Cinderella Girls
It’s truly the mark of a great seiyu when they can do voices so different, you could never tell. While most of Naomi’s roles are outrageous characters with husky voices, she can still do a perfect moe voice, too.
Hoshi no Samidare
A goofy parody of a shounen anime, Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer features a talking lizard, an unmotivated hero, and Naomi as Samidare, a princess with supernatural powers who actually wants the world to end.
Futari Shizuka from Sasaki and Peeps
I love the “business isekai” anime Sasaki and Peeps, featuring a smart businessman who sets up a trading company in another world, because I feel that’s what I would do in the same situation. It also features characters by Kantoku, which automatically makes me a fan.
Tamamo Cross from Uma Musume
Another fun role voiced by Naomi is Tamamo Cross from Uma Musume: Cinderella Grey. Will they ever stop making new seasons of this anime?
Maou from Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero
Finally, we have the most perfect role ever for Naomi, Maou from Lv1 Maou to One Room Yuusha, about a hero who defeated a powerful dark lord but who has become washed up, living in a crappy apartment. It’s a great gag anime, loaded with sexy camera angles of Maou’s assistant Zenia.
