The trash game hunter with the bird mask returns! People know Sunraku for mastering completely broken and buggy games. That last game burned him out, and he needs a good chaser. Shangri-La Frontier Season 2 continues his conquest of a genuinely good game. We’ll see how much fun he has when this anime series returns on October 13th, 2024.
Katarina posted the original Shangri-La Frontier novel to Shosetsuka ni Naro in May 2017. Kodansha obtained the publishing rights and hired the artist Ryosuke Fuji to adapt the series to a manga format starting on July 15th, 2020. Weekly Shonen Magazine has published eighteen volumes thus far.

- Sunraku / Rakuro Hizutome — Yuma Uchida (Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen). A well-known trash game hunter who delights in playing and beating broken games.
- Arthur Pencilgon / Towa Amane — Yoko Hikasa (Weiss Schnee from RWBY: Ice Queendom). An infamous Player Killer who shares a friendly rivalry with Sunraku. She is a famous model who hides her hardcore gamer side from the public.
- Psyger-100 / Momo Saiga — Yumiri Hanamori (Hinaki Ubuyashiki from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba). Schwarzer Wolf’s guild leader. She’s Rei’s older sister and Arthur’s friend.

Full-Dive into Shangri-La Frontier
The trash game hunter Rakuro was burned out after clearing Faeria Chronicle Online. A video game store owner suggested that he play Shangri-La Frontier to take a break from trash games. He started the game by selling most of his gear for an early influx of cash and kept a bird mask to wear. Taking the name Sunraku, he played the game with his trash game skills alongside some friends and a cute rival.
Sunraku encounters a unique enemy while farming for materials. Lycagon the Nightslayer is one of The Seven Colossi. He loses the battle, but his efforts earn him Lycagon’s Mark. While it prevents him from equipping weapons, he can now go on unique quests. The first quest introduces him to the Vorpal Bunny girl, Emul. He also meets with some of his gamer friends, including Arthur Pencilgon. Arthur has a lead on another unique monster, Wezaemon the Tombguard. Defeating it moves the world story along and earns Sunraku some rare loot he cannot use due to the Mark.
