Failure Frame Takes Revenge on the Goddess in July

Another isekai anime that subverts the expectations of a happy life in another world has appeared. Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and Annihilated Everything with Low-Level Spells (Hazurewaku no “Joutai Ijou Skill” de Saikyou ni Natta Ore ga Subete wo Juurin suru made) takes it a step further with a cruel and malicious goddess. She left this isekai protagonist to die. Will his survival spell the goddess’s downfall? We’ll see when the series premieres in July. Let’s enjoy the trailer until then.

Kaoru Shinozaki posted the original Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and Annihilated Everything with Low-Level Spells novel to Shosetsuka ni Naro on November 24th, 2017. Overlap obtained the publishing rights and hired the artist KWKM to adapt the series to a light novel format. This new run began on July 25th, 2018, in the Overlap Bunko imprint, with Eleven volumes and one short story collection published since then.

Our newest isekai protagonist, his first comrade, and his immortal enemy are as follows:

Toka Mimori — Ryota Suzuki (Third One for All from My Hero Academia). The goddess Vicious summoned Toka to act as one of her heroes. The goddess deemed his E-Rank skill worthless. To me, “E” seems short for “Extra.”
Celes Ashrain — Saki Miyashita (Still in Love from Uma Musume Pretty Derby). A High Elf targeted by Vicious for her beauty. She ran from home and found safety and comfort with Toka.
Vicious — Ami Koshimizu (Yang Xiao Long from RWBY: Ice Queendom). The goddess of the new world. Her kind face hides a dark and cruel personality.

Failure Frame Proves the Worth of E-Rank

The goddess Vicious summoned Toka Mimori and the rest of Class 2C to a world of swords and sorcery. While the rest of his class was granted powerful skills, Toka was discovered to have the E-Rank Abnormal State Endowment. Vicious deemed him worthless and a perfect sacrifice, so she condemned him to a dungeon where none returned alive. Toka cursed her as he was sent away, which infuriated her.

Toka’s skill proved far more valuable than anyone imagined. He used Paralysis to halt monsters in their path and Poison to whittle their health to zero before they had a chance to fight back. His desire for revenge was born, and a hidden, darker persona re-emerged after years of suppression. Toka met another person with a grudge against Vicious. Seras Ashrain is the former High Elf princess and knight of the Holy Kingdom of Neia. The Bakuos Empire conquered them because Vicious was unhappy with Neia. Seras joined Toka in his mission, and the two would soon fall in love.
