This anime has a unique take on the alien invasion trope. Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms shows what happens when these extraterrestrial beings want to bond with humans on a deeper level. We’ll see how things go when this series premieres sometime in October 2024. Let’s enjoy the new trailer until then. This is a follow-up to another trailer from a few months ago.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Sae Okamoto created the original Mecha-Ude pilot in 2016. The president of CyberConnect2, Hiroshi Matsuyama, is the general supervisor for the anime series.
Some of our mech arm-bonded characters are as follows:
- Hikaru Amatsuga — Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Keita from Sword Art Online). An ordinary high school student who became bonded with Arma.
- Aki Murasame — Yu Shimamura (Blake Belladonna from RWBY: Ice Queendom). A member of the resistance group ARMS who wields two mecha-ude.
- Jun Kagami — Romi Park (Toshiro Hitsugaya from Bleach). A sinister mecha-ude wielder. Aki fervently pursues him after he attacks her comrades.
TriF Studio has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote Mecha-Ude. You can find additional series information and the Key Visuals there.
Alien Arms Shake the Earth in Mecha-Ude
Aliens launched a most strange invasion of Earth a long time ago. Rather than trying to take over the place, they bonded with the local humans. The people dubbed them “mecha-ude,” given their mech appendage-like appearance. Two groups formed in response to their appearance: the resistance group ARMS, which becomes an ally presence, and the power-hungry Kagami Group, which searches for the “Trigger Arm.”
Hikaru Amatsuga becomes bonded to a powerful fist-like mecha-ude. Arma is a supernatural being, and he and Hikaru become targets of sinister forces. ARMS assigns Aki Murasame to protect them from these unseen foes. One of the mecha-ude targeting them just so happens to be the man Aki herself is hunting.
