J.C.Staff continues its nefarious scheme of expanding its reach between genres. Magilumiere Co. Ltd. (Kabushiki Gaisha Magilumiere) is a fun take on the magical girl genre, wherein being a magical girl is a real job prospect. Whereas Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a darker take on things, Magilumiere Co. Ltd. is a fun, satirical take. We’ll see how fun things get for these unlikely magical girls when the series premieres sometime in 2024. Until then, let’s enjoy this brief trailer.
Sekka Iwata and Yu Aoki first released their Magilumiere Co. Ltd. manga series on October 20th, 2021. Shueisha has since released ten volumes in Shonen Jump+.
A seasoned magical girl and a new recruit are as follows:
- Hitomi Koshigaya — Yumiri Hanamori (Chinatsu Hayakawa in My Tiny Senpai). A more experienced magical girl and the first magical girl to work for Magilumiere.
- Kana Sakuragi — Fairouz Ai (Power in Chainsaw Man). A college graduate who struggles to find a job. Her excellent memory aids Hitomi in a complicated fight.
J.C.Staff has set up a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote Magilumiere Co. Ltd. Additional series information and the Key Art can be found there.
J.C.Staff’s New Startup Business
J.C.Staff is one of those studios that can considered truly “legendary.” The studio was founded long ago, on January 18th, 1986, by Tomoyuki Miyata, who previously worked at Tatsunoko Production. They’re most known for their work on Edens Zero, Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?, The Familiar of Zero, Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Azumanga Daioh, and One-Punch Man.
Magilumiere Co. Ltd. Is Open for Business
Magilumiere Co. Ltd. is, as we discussed before, a fun new take on the magical girl genre. Magical girls are commonplace in this world, to the point where companies big and small have formed to employ them. Monsters known as “Kaii” appeared in this world some time ago, causing the rise of magical girls. These girls are paid well, but only because they face extreme danger regularly. Fame and fortune can be gained if a girl risks it all.
This world is where Kana Sakuragi, a college graduate, intends to find a job and become a productive member of society. After failing many interviews (in a just world, she would have companies headhunting her), she ends up in a life-and-death situation. Her latest company had been overlooking (accidentally or otherwise) a Kaii growing in a conference room. The finance company hired on the cheap and got Hitomi Koshigaya on the scene. It was a two-person job, but Kana’s exceptional memory allowed her to help here. She knows how to use magical girl equipment because she tried applying to the company that makes it. Thanks to her, they resolved an impossible situation. Then, a good company of magical girls properly recruited her.
