Near the end of February of this year, Netflix announced that, in partnership with Polygon Pictures and Rooster Teeth, a brand new animated Transformers series would be coming to the streaming platform. The Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy is set to consist of three separate seasons made up of six 22-minute episodes. The first part of the trilogy, Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy: Siege, was meant to debut on Netflix sometime this month. Due to COVID-19, however, Netflix was unable to finish producing the foreign language dubs of the series in time, leading to an undisclosed delay. Now, however, we finally know that we can expect to see the series arrive on Netflix next month, on July 30th.
Netflix describes the brand new animated series as follows:
TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON TRILOGY: SIEGE begins in the final hours of the devastating civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons. The war that has torn apart their home planet of Cybertron is at a tipping point. Two leaders, Optimus Prime and Megatron, both want to save their world and unify their people, but only on their own terms. In an attempt to end the conflict, Megatron is forced to consider using the Allspark, the source of all life and power on Cybertron, to “reformat” the Autobots, thus “unifying” Cybertron. Outnumbered, outgunned, and under SIEGE, the battle-weary Autobots orchestrate a desperate series of counterstrikes on a mission that, if everything somehow goes right, will end with an unthinkable choice: kill their planet in order to save it.
Polygon Pictures is set to animate the series, and as of April 8th, the entire company has been working remotely due to the spread of COVID-19. The company went on to extend their remote work period to at least May 20th, and is likely continuing to work remotely in some degree.
