Dragons are typically depicted as either fearsome creatures of ultimate power, wise beasts with incredible knowledge, or both. The Kawo Tanuki and Choco Aya manga Dragon Goes House-Hunting (Dragon, Ie o Kau.) shakes that formula up by focusing on a dragon that is none of those things. The manga about a cowardly dragon kicked out of his family launched in December of 2016 in the Mag Garden produced Monthly Comic Garden manga magazine. Now, anime fans will be able to experience the silly story thanks to a newly announced anime adaption from anime studio Signal.MD. While a broadcast date for the television anime has yet to be announced, the first visual for the series has been shared by Signal.MD.
Seven Seas Entertainment, the license holders of the Dragon Goes House-Hunting series in America, describe the story of the series as follows:
When a dragon fails to live up to the fearsome standards set for him, his family kicks him out. He embarks on a quest to find a new home, but soon finds that life on the road is no place for a cowardly beast of legend. In a fantasy world full of elves, dwarves, and other mythical creatures, where everyone wants a piece of him—literally!—the frustrations of house-hunting reach a whole new level.
Signal.MD, the anime studio responsible for the upcoming anime version of Dragon Goes House-Hunting, previously worked on Napping Princess and Atom The Beginning. Their take on the series will be directed by Haruki Kasugamori, who previously worked on Dia Horizon (Kabu), Hitorigurashi no Shōgakusei, and Lunatan: 1-Mannen no Himitsu. Character designs will be handled by Shioriu Asuka, who previously worked on Lunatan: 1-Mannen no Himitsu. Music for the series will be produced at Pony Canyon and composed by Kyohei Matsuno, the composer behind You Don’t Know Gunma Yet and Lunatan: 1-Mannen no Himitsu.
