Have you ever had an annoying underclassman in school or junior at work? Did they relentlessly prank you and poke fun at you while you just wanted to be left alone? Did they also happen to have enormous boobs? If you can relate to any of that, you might be able to connect with the glum and quiet protagonist of Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! (Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!), who spends his days being tormented by his stacked college underclassman Hana Uzaki. Even if you can’t relate, though, you’re sure to enjoy the high-energy comedy when it debuts in July.
A brand new trailer for the anime adaptation of Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!, a manga by Japanese author Take, gives us our first look at the hilarious new show in motion. We also get to hear some of the main cast of the show, which includes the following actors and characters:
- Naomi Ōzora as Hana Uzaki
- Kenji Akabane as Shinichi Sakurai
- Ayana Taketatsu as Ami Asai
- Tomoya Takagi as Itsuhito Sakaki
The original manga was launched on Niconico back in December of 2017, as part of the Dra Dra Sharp brand. Kadokawa went on to license and publish the series in volumes, with the fourth compiled book having launched on February 7. Seven Seas releases Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! in English, and describes the story as follows:
Sakurai Shinichi’s one wish is for a little peace and quiet. But Uzaki Hana–his boisterous, well-endowed underclassman–has other plans. All she wants is to hang out and poke fun at him. With the help of her chipper charm and peppy persistence, this might just be the start of a beautiful relationship!
The anime adaptation, meanwhile, is being produced by studio ENGI, who also animated the series Kemono Michi: Rise Up last year. The Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! anime is being directed by Kazuya Miura, who previously directed Kemono Michi: Rise Up and DRAMAtical Murder. Takashi Aoshima, who previously worked on both seasons of Yuruyuri – Happy Go Lily, Himouto! Umaruchan and Survival Game Club!, will be in charge of overseeing the series scripts. Finally, Manabu Kurihara, who was previously a sub-character designer on Kemono Michi: Rise Up, will be handling character designs for this series.
