The official website for the popular anime adaptation of the light novel Ascendance of a Bookworm has unloaded a big update for fans!
In the updates posted, not only did they unleash a new promotional video for the anticipated second season, but they also revealed the premiere date, episode count, and a nifty key visual that introduces three new characters just for giggles.
In case you missed it because it does go by rather quickly, the premiere date for Ascendance of a Bookworm season two will be April 4th. It was also noted on the website that a blu-ray box set will be released on June 17th, which will contain twelve episodes and a host of other goodies including a soundtrack, drama CD, and much more.
The anime adaptation of Ascendance of a Bookworm was first announced back in March 2019. The animation is produced by studio Ajia-do Animation Works and features Mitsuru Hongo as director. The light novel series was formally released in collected volumes in 2015 in Japan and released its 21st volume on December 10th, 2019. J-Novel Club is currently releasing the volumes in English on their website.
Crunchyroll simulcast the first season as it aired (and recently uploaded an English dub) and describes the story as:
Avid bookworm and college student Motosu Urano ends up dying in an unforeseen accident. This came right after the news that she would finally be able to work as a librarian like she had always dreamed of. When she regained consciousness, she was reborn as Myne, the daughter of a poor soldier. She was in the town of Ehrenfest, which had a harsh class system. But as long as she had books, she didn’t really need anything else. However, books were scarce and belonged only to the nobles. But that doesn’t stop her, so she makes a decision… “If there aren’t any books, I’ll just create some.”
