Every anime season, we get a new batch of “seasonal waifus” for fans to fawn over and make memes about online. The summer 2024 anime season has been great, with lots of cute girls to entertain fans. I asked J-List customers who the best waifu from the current anime season was, and got a lot of good responses!

Why Do Fans Fall in Love with Certain Characters?
Fans gather around different female characters for various reasons. They might like a certain character’s design or respond to whatever fan service scenes the studio prepared for us. Some fans have a soft spot for their favorite voice actor, like Saori Hayami, and won’t miss a show featuring her voice work.
Other characters might become popular because they’re designed to play to popular tropes. In 2024, if fans can make memes about a brother and sister having sex, they will definitely embrace that character. Studios know this, so they give the fans what they want. That’s very smart of them!
