We hope everyone is going to be in Los Angeles for Anime Expo. This year, J-List’s sister companies, J18 Publishing and JAST, are mixing things up a bit with YABAI: An Art Gallery Experience. It’s both an art gallery and a J18 Publishing pop-up shop located inside the LA ARTCORE event space, where you can browse incredible art by Japan’s top illustrators and pick up some exclusive hentai books. Here’s everything you need to know about the event!
J-List is your Friend in Japan, bringing you awesome products from Japan every week, and even letting you special order products we don’t normally carry through our new Megumi Express proxy buying service. YABAI Is a J18 Publishing Pop-Up Shop and Hentai Art Gallery
This year, J18 Publishing and JAST are doing things a little differently: holding a huge event called the YABAI Art Gallery Experience inside LA ARTCORE, a beautiful art gallery space located in the heart of Little Tokyo. We’ll have tons of amazing art for you to browse, along with 50+ hentai doujins, full-sized manga, and artbooks to buy.

The centerpiece of the YABAI event is a huge gallery featuring art by all your favorite artists, which you can browse or buy if you like. We’ll have multiple pieces of beautiful art, including original manuscript pages, on display for you to check out. The list of artists represented includes:
- Oyari Ashito
- Mignon
- Shiwasu no Okina
- Ohagisan / Okito Endo
- Kantoku
- Ceesalt
- Kotomi
- Shoonia
- Senukin
- Karasu Chan
At the YABAI event, we’ll have 50+ J18 Publishing books available for purchase, including three event exclusives that fans will not want to miss. You’ll be able to browse a huge selection of the best works published by J18, and you won’t need to worry about shipping charges!
Important: Because the books are 18+, you must bring a valid ID to enter the YABAI event. No exceptions!
Special Guest Artist! Shiwasu no Okina
Best of all, fan favorite hentai artist Shiwasu no Okina will be at the event for several hours each day. He’ll be happy to sign any of his manga or doujins you pick up at the event for free! He’s a super-chill artist and is always happy to take selfies with his fans. Be sure to check J18 Publishing’s X page for announcements about the artist’s schedule during the event, as well as panels at Anime Expo.
Where Is the Event Being Held? How Do I Get There?
The LA ARTCORE Union Center For The Arts is a wonderful space in downtown that’s dedicated to challenging ideas about art. It’s in the Little Tokyo Historic District of Los Angeles, at 120 Judge John Aiso St, Los Angeles, CA 90012 [Google Maps link].
If you’re at the Los Angeles Convention Center, you have several easy options to get to LA ARTCORE
- By Uber. It’s just an 8-12 minute hop from the LA Convention Center, depending on traffic.
- By Metro. Walk to Pico Station, then take the Metro A Line (Blue) one stop north to 7th/Metro Center. Transfer to the B or D (Red/Purple) and go one stop to Civic Center/Grand Park Station. Then walk 7 minutes to LA ARTCORE. It will take 15 minutes total.
- By Bus. The Metro Line 30 runs from Pico & Figueroa to 1st & Judge. Total travel time is 15-25 minutes.
- On Foot. A nice two-mile trek through Los Angeles. Just walk up Figueroa, then turn east on 2nd or 1st Street towards Little Tokyo.
While you’re down in Little Tokyo, be sure to sample the amazing businesses nearby, from Japanese crepe shops to shave ice and more.
