Today is February 22, and in Japan this means it’s Cat Day because 2/22 can be read as nyan nyan nyan phonetically in Japanese. This means the Internet is going wild sharing pictures of cats in all their many adorable forms. Since we all love both anime and cats, I thought we’d celebrate with these super cute anime catgirls!
Why Are Anime Catgirls So Much Fun?
Blending the features of cats and girls seems like a very natural thing, and it dates back to characters like DC’s Catwoman in the 1940s, and in modern Japanese popular culture, nekomimi (any character with cat ears and other features) have become as ubiquitous as the Playboy bunny girl.
