Happy 27th birthday to seiyu Kana Ichinose! This popular Japanese voice actress exploded onto the scene in 2018 with the role of Ichigo from Darling in the Franxx and has built an impressive career voicing many beloved anime characters since then. Let’s learn more about her and try to pick her best voice role in this post!
Kana Ichinose was born December 20, 1996 — two months younger than J-List, yikes! — in central Hokkaido. She was an avid fan of the Prince of Tennis anime, which inspired her to imagine herself working in the anime industry. She visited a voice acting school during an open campus day, where she was told she had a unique voice that was well-suited to voiceover work.
While most seiyu start out with minor background roles, Kana got a huge role right away, voicing Ichigo from Darling in the Franxx. Other lead roles soon followed, including Maki from Kaguya-sama, Sayu from Higehiro and Yuzuriha from Dr. Stone. She hits it out of the park with each character she voices.
Kana Ichinose’s hobbies include traveling alone, astronomy and watching movies. She played basketball in school and is still very athletic. Her “special skill” is being left-handed when eating but right-handed when playing sports.
What Are Kana Ichinose’s Best Voice Roles?
I love Kana’s voice so much, so it’s hard to pick one. Here are all her major roles so far!
Ichigo from Darling in the Franxx. Kana Ichinose’s breakout role really made an impression on her fans. There’s an emotional quality in her voice that really made Ichigo stand out as a character.
Fern from Sousou no Frieren. Kana’s voice is perfect for the deadpan Fern, who always reacts to some unreasonable thing that “Frieren-sama” has done.

Suzu Kanade from Ayakashi Triangle. Another great voice role for Kana Ichinose is Suzu from this series, and she’s great because her voice has just the right amount of ecchi playfulness. Browse Ayakashi Triangle Blu-rays, figures, and more on the site!
Suletta Mercury from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury. Another popular voice role was the emotional Suletta, who stutters a lot when she gets nervous.
Sayu Ogiwara from Hige wo Soru, Soshite Joshikousei wo Hirou. She also played the JK we all wish lived in our house. Her voice brought just the right balance to Sayu’s character, and fans couldn’t help but fall in love with her.
Tuesday from Carole & Tuesday. The best anime you’ve never watched, about two girls trying to make their way in the music world…on Mars. It’s created by Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe and is super chill.
Yuzuriha Ogawa from Dr. Stone. As one of the core characters from Dr. Stone, Yuzuriha makes every scene she’s in better.
Maki from Kaguya-sama: Love is War. One of the genius elements of Kaguya-sama is that even the side characters are fascinating to watch. And she makes the character Maki lots of fun. (See Kaguya-sama figures in stock here!)
Maaa from Made in Abyss. Finally, there’s Maaa from season two of Made in Abyss, one of the best dramatic anime series ever made. The only thing stranger than Maaa is…Maaa’s butt! Read my love letter to this great anime here.
