The new anime season has started, and all around the world, fans are watching to see which shows will feature characters and stories that really stand out. One series that’s off to a strong start is Kanojo Mo Kanojo — the official English title is Girlfriend, Girlfriend, though Wikipedia translates it more accurately as She is the Girlfriend, Too — a goofy new rom-com about an indecisive main character who can’t decide which girl to date, and ends up with a harem of cute girls.
The Story of Kanojo Mo Kanojo
After confessing his love to childhood friend Saki every month since the first grade, Naoya Mukai’s dream finally comes true when she finally agrees to date him, and they become the most “love-love” couple in class. He’s the happiest man in the world! Things get complicated when Naoya is confessed to by his kouhai Nagisa Minase. Naoya knows he can’t accept Nagisa’s feelings because he already has a girlfriend, but somehow he just can’t deny her cuteness and does what every anime MC would do… try to date both girls at once. This is the beginning of Naoya’s harem, but not the end. Where will it all go?

Four Reasons To Watch Girlfriend, Girlfriend
Here are four solid reasons why you should watch Kanojo mo Kanojo!
It’s Got Great Waifus
We never know what 2D girls fans will end up obsessing over before a new anime season gets rolling, but so far the interaction between Saki and Nagisa around the main character is very pleasant, and I think this show could be the one to give us the best “seasonal waifus”!
The voice cast is great, too, featuring Azumi Waki (voice of the Helpful Fox Senko-san), Ayane Sakura (voice of Ochako from My Hero Academia), plus god-tier voice actresses Rie Takahashi and Ayana Taketetsu.
It’s Like Tonikaku Kawaii, But With More
Fans loved TONIKAWA: Over the Moon For You from last year, even though it didn’t have much in the way of drama, as the sweeter-than-sugar love between Tsukasa and Nasa was never really in any jeopardy. Something about Kanojo mo Kanojo has a similar vibe, though with the promise of a bit more drama as we wait to see which girl(s) Naoya will end up with in the end. For some reason, despite being a similar kind of somewhat predictable harem story, this show is loads more entertaining than Osamake: Romcom Where the Childhood Friend Can’t Lose.
It’s by the Creator of Aho Girl and Mangaka-san to Assistant-san
Two top-tier comedy series really entertained us were Aho Girl, about the dumbest girl in the world, and The Manga Artist and his Assistants, a fun ecchi harem about a hentai manga artist and the cute assistants who help him create his art. This show is by Hiroyuki, the manga-ka who created both series, and that’s enough for me to go all-in on this series, so we know there will be a lots of great jokes as well as sexy fanservice moments ahead.
It Has a Great Opening Theme!
I’m loving the love triangle-themed opening theme song, sung by Momo Asakura a lot.
Conclusion: Go Watch Kanojo mo Kanojo!
With a fun story that promises to be pleasing and entertaining to fans, with joke set-ups by the creator of Aho Girl and Mangaka-san, I’m positive that this will be a show you won’t want to miss. Have fun watching!
One product we love are the Mashumo full-sized oppai pillows of our favorite anime girls, especially from Senran Kagura. They’re similar to the huge full-sized mousepads from Softgarage we sell, but a lot softer and more affordable. We’ve got these great pillows up for preorder on the site now, but they’ll be removed soon. Grab the Mashumo soft boob pillows you want before they’re gone!
