One reason we all like anime is that it generally features characters that are more accessible to us than those found in Hollywood or other forms of mainstream popular culture. We feel comfortable watching characters who are more similar to us — anime otakus with odd hobbies, characters that have difficulty in open social situations, or who make self-effacing jokes about themselves — than most other kinds of media. As I’ve done before, I asked J-List’s awesome Twitter followers “Describe yourself with an anime image!” and here are some of the replies we got!
We understand the importance of avoiding overwork and getting enough sleep.
Many of us work specifically so we can fund our expensive hobbies.
Talking to people can be a challenge, and cause us to feel anxious.
Usually, it’s better if someone will just give us a few headpats to brighten our day.
Some of us are 25 and single. And tired as fuck.
On the other hand, some of us are 24 and single.
We know what’s important in life: video games.
We generally love computers and other nerdy kinds of technology. And toilets that wash your butt for you.
Sometimes we do have to honestly admit when life gets too frustrating to take it anymore.
When this happens, some of us self-medicate.
We can be quite perverted, sometimes beyond the point, that’s healthy for us.
We’re clever about making sure others don’t judge us for our fetishes.
We’re always open to new sexual experiences.
Naturally, we have physical needs and sometimes want to have them addressed.
Of course, we’ve usually had to take care of the problem ourselves.
It’s not like everyone doesn’t do it, after all.
Sometimes we get busted, and we have to divert the attention of the other person in a clever way.
There are few things we love better than getting a new anime figure to add to our collection.
Though some of us might love our anime figures a little too much.
One way or another, when 3 a.m. rolls around, we can’t be responsible for what might happen. We’re only human after all.
