Locked into Hell with My Neighbor Ayane
Since My Neighbor Ayane only features Ayane and Keigo, we get to enjoy a lengthy narrative where two tense neighbors become relaxed fuck buddies. There’s no slow burn, and the premise gives its creator HERIO space to show fun, realistic scenarios.
Keigo dislikes seeing Ayane at first. Lucky for him, he locks himself out of his apartment, and she’s the only one around to help. She invites Keigo in, misbehaves in the best way a busty neighbor can, and the two start debauching.
So Keigo has a bad day, and Ayane fixes it with excuses about heat and her sexual desires. Seems like a good day to be in hell to me. Keigo is overreacting, trying not to look at her.
Always Heating Up
My Neighbor Ayane‘s three plots are realistic and sell the fantasy, as opposed to being accidentally recruited to coach a girl’s volleyball team to use a secret boob bouncing technique to be the best volleyball players ever. In my opinion, the couple gets hotter as they go, as we’ll see.
Well, the art is good throughout. There are some bare bones frames, but the highlight moments are great from beginning to end. No real complaints.
The scenarios aren’t objectively sexier, comparatively. When Keigo is locked out in the first scenario, Ayane takes him in, and they go at it like rabbits after their boundaries fall. The second scenario is about a business trip Keigo goes on. He has been having sex with Ayane off-screen since the first story, and doesn’t look forward to being away. Ayane makes a game of sending him sexy photos to tempt him to handle himself. And for the finale, Keigo returns home and punishes Ayane mercilessly for her unasked-for (but very welcome) teasing.
Arguably the third scenario is the most mundane of the three, but the details make the story. Keigo and Ayane are in their situationship, and stop at a love hotel. First, the two non-lovebirds go on their first not-a-date, where they encounter Ayane’s ex. The couple try to cut through the sexual tension and baggage by discussing what they are to each other, and admit they’re closer than merely sex friends. Bonus: Ayane is dressed up for going out, including lingerie. Keigo can’t keep his hands off her.
Invest in Ayane Futures
So then why do I say that the stories get hotter as they go? It’s the investment in Ayane and Keigo’s story. These are characters who start as a blank slate salaryman and busty girl, then jump into sex. Well, Ayane did everything short of unzip Keigo before he understood she wanted him. At first they aren’t in a relationship, and there’s no way to know if they’ll progress past a one-night stand, and this was true for those who read the uncollected volumes. HERIO built a narrative that heats up and makes readers care about the couple’s quirky sex relationship. I’m here for that.
My Neighbor Ayane Has Taste
I’ve focused on the slow burn fetish, but there’s plenty more raunchiness.
