A lonely and dour schoolgirl spends her time enjoying shojo romance series and tending to flowers. She dreams of romance while insisting that she is not traditionally “cute” or “beautiful” like the girls in the series she reads. One of the most attractive boys in her school discovers her flower-keeping hobby and happily greets her. We’ll see if she gets her shojo-like romance when April Showers Bring May Flowers (Busu ni Hanataba o) premieres on July 4th, 2025.
Roku Sakura released the original April Showers Bring May Flowers manga series between April 4th, 2016, and September 2nd, 2022. Kadokawa Shoten has published the manga’s twelve volumes in Young Ace.
The flower-keeping girl, his new friend, and the girl who has a crush on him are as follows:
- Hana Tabata — Saori Hayami (Yor Forger from Spy × Family). A lonely girl who considers herself “ugly.” She takes care of the flowers at school.
- Yosuke Ueno — Shimba Tsuchiya (Kazuyuki Konno from In/Spectre). One of the handsome guys from school. He approaches Hana as a new friend.
- Sumire Uguisudani — Yoshino Aoyama (Hitori Goto from Bocchi the Rock!). One of the beautiful girls from school. Her charming appearance hides a devious nature.

A Wallflower Blooms in April Showers Bring May Flowers
Hana Tabata is a lonely girl with low self-esteem. She spends her free time reading shojo manga and tending to the school flowers. She has a fateful encounter with Yosuke Ueno, one of the most popular and handsome guys at her school. Yosuke approached Hana happily with a friendly demeanor and even praised the flower she wore in her hair. The shy and self-defeating Hana immediately ran from him in fear and shame.
Hana later asks Yosuke not to tell anyone about what he saw that morning in their classroom. Yosuke realized that she tended the flowers at school and expressed his joy at meeting her. He swore not to tell anyone, though he admitted he wouldn’t have even had she not asked. After all, it was their secret. Now that Yosuke seems to be interested in Hana, another popular girl must appear. Sumire Uguisudani has fostered a crush on Yosuke and now stands as a rival to Hana.
