Vertex Force Puts Sibling Rivalry on the Starting Grid
Thirteen-year-old Akira Todo lives in northern Okinawa with his older sister Haruka and their café-owner mother. Haruka inherits their father’s mysterious Engine ability, while Akira remains powerless and resents always needing her protection. His strong sense of justice deepens that frustration because he lacks the power to act on it. Vertex Force starts with the end of the world and turns their sibling imbalance into a planetary pileup.
A worldwide network paralysis called the “Power Down” upends their summer. Haruka’s forehead glows red, echoing what happened to their father when EDVA — the enemy that destroyed the alien planet Teia — previously approached Earth. As the crisis widens, Akira meets several capable young women, putting harem-comedy traffic on the road to a mecha showdown. The anime-original story leaves EDVA, ENIA, Engine powers, and the Todo family history open for weekly speculation.
The Cast and Staff Start Their Engines
Akira wants to escape Haruka’s shadow as an inadvertent harem collection complicates his path. The voice actors behind the revved-up mecha ensemble of Vertex Force include:

- Kaede Hondo — Haruka Todo. Akira’s cheerful, athletic 16-year-old sister, carrying the Engine power inherited from their father.
- Ami Koshimizu — Eleanor Northbrook. An assertive 18-year-old American who trains to defeat EDVA, an enemy alien.
- Megumi Han — Lala Zudenstein. A calm, intellectually gifted 17-year-old from Switzerland who dreams of becoming a watchmaker.
- Rie Takahashi — Yoko Nishina. A gentle 17-year-old Hokkaido student carrying an undisclosed trauma.
- Kazuki Ura — Alan. A general-purpose support module developed on the planet Teia to assist Akira’s group.
- Nana Mizuki — EDVA. A being created on Teia who destroyed the planet after rebelling and followed ENIA (Akira’s mech) to Earth.
The cast supports a fanservice anime built around distinct heroine types and motorcycle-inspired equipment. That combination gives the harem comedy a mecha hook. Meanwhile, the Vertex Force staff must make each girl’s performance and machinery read as one design in motion.

Kazuhiro Takamura and SMDE bring experience with CGI-heavy productions, and the promotional videos put that pipeline on full display. Digital models suit the fights and motorcycle-like Engines. The cel-shaded heroines face the tougher test. Takamura’s fanservice depends on expressive posing and precise camera placement, so the CGI must deliver personality alongside the machinery.
Can Vertex Force Give CGI the Mecha Musume Spark?
“Mecha musume” means “mechanical girls,” a genre and design tradition that combines heroines with wearable machinery. Takamura’s work across the Strike Witches franchises (Road to Berlin) and Vividred Operation gives him direct experience pairing mechanical equipment with fanservice-heavy character presentation. In Vertex Force, compact housings and revving sounds give the Engines a motorcycle character. SMDE’s CGI should make every launch feel like ignition, and every heroine feel alive at the controls.
Across those earlier shows, Takamura treats machinery and character design as one package. Vertex Force can give each heroine a distinct riding style through expressive animation and responsive mechanical movement. The cel shading looks more refined than earlier full-CGI anime such as BanG Dream! and Girls Band Cry. A full season will test whether that polish holds in action and in the fanservice shots central to Takamura’s style. The throttle is open. Now the models need endurance.
Where to Watch Vertex Force
Vertex Force premieres October 3, 2026, at 11:30 p.m. on TOKYO MX, BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV, with later broadcasts on Me-Tele, AT-X, and ABC TV. Crunchyroll will stream the series worldwide outside Japan, China, and Korea; its release time remains unannounced.
Engine Check Light: Vertex Force brings Takamura’s fanservice-heavy mecha musume instincts into a motorcycle-inspired CGI package. Its harem-ready cast supplies personality. The season’s real test is whether the cel-shaded animation gives every heroine and Engine convincing weight.
