We’ll see how this enemies-turned-lovers tale unfolds when The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King (Himekishi wa Barbaroi no Yome) premieres on April 9th, 2026.

Noriaki Kotoba released the original The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King manga series on January 9th, 2021. Kodansha has published ten volumes in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine.
The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King Cast
The knight, the barbarian, the servant, and the nun are as follows:
- Serafina de Lavillant — Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika Ijichi from Bocchi the Rock!). Serafina is the First Knight Commander of Ildren’s 17th East Expedition Army. Her allies call her the “Crystal Helmet.”
- Veor — Satoshi Inomata (Gomez from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime). Veor is the heir to the barbarian tribe and their finest warrior. His people call him the “Thunder Voice.”
- Cersei — Hana Hishikawa (Aki Sizuha from Touhou Danmaku Kagura). Cersei is Veor’s faithful servant and Serafina’s attendant.
- Alyssa Malcius — Aki Toyosaki (Momo Belia Deviluke from To Love Ru). Alyssa is a nun on a journey to save Serafina.

The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King Find Common Ground
Serafina de Lavillant led the Ildren Kingdom’s 17th East Expedition Army and advanced far in the barbarian-run lands. However, their seven-year campaign came to an end when they encountered Veor, the mighty barbarian heir. Veor cut through the knights with ease, forcing Serafina to face him herself to give her men time to retreat. Her great skills and talents as a commander were reduced to nothing as Veor left her on the ground. He then took her as a spoil of war and asked her to be his bride.
The new trailer showcases the series’s more magical themes. We’re shown floating fairies and what I suspect is a nude dryad with caption censorship. Serafina takes part in some sort of late-night event with drunken magical beings. Beyond that, we get to see Serafina in royal attire back home in Ildren. Her home looks like a typical medieval town, which nicely contrasts with Veor’s more primitive and barbaric setting. He still has elves and dragons, so his hometown wins.
