Gotoubun no Princess ~ Gensou to Shinen to Mahou Gakuin, a new The Quintessential Quintuplets console game is coming this September! Produced by Mages, it is scheduled for a September 18, 2025, Japanese release. The upcoming release is billed as a fantasy, dungeon-crawling RPG set in a magical academy.

Gotoubun no Princess ~ Gensou to Shinen to Mahou Gakuin — Deets
What’s Gotoubun no Princess about? Imagine the plot of Gotoubun no Hanayome and then add magic … you’ll end up with Gotoubun no Princess. That’s not even me being snarky; that’s the actual plot. Well, kind of. Some things do change — for one, the quints are now princesses. However, Fu-kun is still poor. Gotoubun no Princess has plenty of quests in which players collect craft items and loot and will feature several biomes and large-scale exploration options.
The game will be available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4 (download only), and PS5. There’s an irony in making a game about a dude who can’t afford games, but my lawyers have advised me not to make jokes about the peasantry.
Gotoubun no Princess is the fourth The Quintessential Quintuplets game. And much like the FINAL season of Attack on Titan, you can be sure you’re getting another one.
The regular version of the game is listed with an MSRP of ¥8690 (~ $61).

Game Bonuses
If a Japanese game fails to provide a more expensive version with merch, is it really even Japanese? Mages sure doesn’t think so, as they’re offering two Gotoubun no Princess collector‘s boxes. The ‘Limited Edition’ box will retail at ¥14,190 (~ $100) and includes the following:
- A 10-minute “Seven Arcs” The Quintessential Quintuplets OVA
- A 45-minute visual drama (Blu-ray)
- Bonus DVD featuring game soundtrack and booklet
Should you be feeling really fancy, a ‘Special Box’ retailing at ¥25,190 (~ $175) with the following is also available:
- A 10-minute “Seven Arcs” The Quintessential Quintuplets OVA
- A 45-minute visual drama (Blu-ray)
- Bonus DVD featuring game soundtrack and booklet
- Five acrylic stands (one for each Nakano Quint)
- Six tin badges (Nakano sisters and Fu-kun)
- a reversible jacket for the Blu-ray
- a mini script of the OVA
- a mini storyboard book
- a special sleeve case
The July 2025 issue of Megami Magazine will include further details on the Gotoubun no Princess game and its OVA.

What’s The Quintessential Quintuplets About?
Futaro Uesugi lived a lamentable life. While he excelled at academic pursuits, his existence was friendless, debt-ridden, and socially stagnant. With the social skills of a mentally impaired llama, Fu-kun instantly instigated a fight with a new transfer student who took his seat at the cafeteria.
Unfortunately for him, that seemingly unimportant altercation comes back to bite him. When Fu-kun accepts a tutoring job for the daughters of a wealthy businessman, he finds that the girl he berated is his client’s daughter. Futaro’s laments only increase when he realizes that the other girls he also has to tutor have the academic prowess of a brick of mud. Yet, determined to solve his financial woes, he presses on.
Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine serialized The Quintessential Quintuplets from August 2017 to February 2020. Negi Haruba wrote and illustrated the manga.
Gotoubun no Hanayome boasts two TV anime seasons, a film, several OVAs, and several games. We currently don’t have the preorder date for Gotoubun no Princess ~Gensou to Shinen to Mahou Gakuin, but we do stock these:
