If you missed this bit of news when we first reported on it back in July, here’s your second chance!
In a press release, Japan 2.5D Stage Play World has revealed that not only are they going to have the three previous stage play adaptations of popular manga return for a second run (Live Spectacle “NARUTO”, My Hero Academia the ULTRA Stage, and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Musical Nogizaka46 ver. 2019) but also add two additional titles bringing the total up to five!
The new additions to the lineup add more Naruto and Sailor Moon shows, titled Live Spectacle “NARUTO” ~The Tale of Uzumaki Naruto~ and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Musical -Kaguya Hime’s Beloved-. These particular shows are special as while the original three shows will be available from December 10th to February 3rd, the two new additions will only be available from January 7th to 20th and January 21th to February 3rd. The stage plays will be available to stream via the ticketed streaming service Globe Coding, with tickets costing $15 each (except for the two new additions which will cost $20 each). Each ticket grants you two weeks of access to each stream. Tickets for all five shows are available now.
The streams are available nearly everywhere in the world, excluding Japan, the Middle East, Mainland China, North Korea, and Russia.
I’ve said this before but this is one particular aspect of otaku culture that I’ve always wanted to experience but have never had the opportunity (I missed the last round of streams because I was broke at the time) so hearing that I have a second chance to see two Sailor Moon musicals fills my heart with joy.
Stage play adaptations of popular manga and anime have become more and more popular over the last decade and, with worldwide access now possible, I can only hope that this trend continues and we get even more of these theatrical adaptations in the future!
