Early this year during AnimeJapan 2019, it was announced that Yako Gureishi’s manga series Somali to Mori no Kamisama (Somali And The Forest Spirit) would get a televised anime series slated to air in the fall of 2020. The official website for the anime announced the main character cast and the main production staff members working on the series. The new promotional video revealed additional cast members and previews the opening theme song “Arigatou wa Kocchi no Kotoba” by song composer Naotarou Moriyama. Inori Minase, who voices Somali, will be singing the ending theme song “Kokoro Somali” which she wrote the lyrics to. Somali to Mori no Kamisama was launched by Gureishi online on Web Comic Zenyon in April 2015. The sixth compiled volume was published by Tokuma Shoten on April 20th.

The synopsis for Somali to Mori no Kamisama goes like this:
The world is ruled by spirits, goblins, and all manner of strange creatures.
Human beings are persecuted, to the very point of extinction.
One day, a golem and a lone human girl meet.
This is a record of the pair; one a member of a ruined race, the other a watchman of the forest. It tells of their travels together, and of the bond between father and daughter.
