We already knew that the Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle manga series would get an anime adaptation at some point in 2020. We still don’t know when exactly it will appear on television screens around the world, but we at least now know who will put it together.
Starring Inori Minase (Hestia in Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon) as the title character, the crew behind this one is solid, to say the least. Doga Koba (this season’s Asteroid in Love) will produce the animation with Mitsue Yamazaki (How Heavy Are The Dumbbells You Lift?) serving as director. Meanwhile, Yoshiko Nakamura (The Helpful Fox Senko-san) will handle the series composition and Ai Kikuchi (New Game) will handle the character designs.
Originally a manga series created by Kagiji Kumanomata launched in 2016 in Weekly Shonen Sunday, the series tells the story of a sleepy princess who just wants to nap! Or as Viz Media describes it:
She decides to while away the hours by sleeping, but getting a good night’s rest turns out to be a lot of work! She begins by fashioning a DIY pillow out of the fur of her Teddy Demon guards and an “air mattress” from the magical Shield of the Wind. The princess’s hapless demonic guards soon discover that their captive expects to be treated like, well, a princess. Things go from bad to worse — for her captors — when some of Princess Syalis’s schemes end in her untimely — if temporary — demise and she chooses the Forbidden Grimoire for her bedtime reading…
The 13th volume of the manga was released in Japan on January 17th, while the 10th volume of the English version was released this past December.
Judging by the crew attached to this one, this is going to be a fluffy good time for viewers later this year and I, for one, can’t wait to check this title out! Be sure to stay tuned here for more details of this series as they are released.
