Often times, anime series will rarely end up going beyond one or two seasons. If they do get a continuation, though, it’s usually in the form of a feature-length film. These theatrical sequels give fans of dormant shows one last chance to experience the fun of the series they love so much, while also giving the animation studio the ability to go all out with their animation and storytelling skills. In the case of raunchy slice-of-life school comedy Seitokai Yakuindomo, the upcoming film continuation is actually the second theatrical release in the series. Originally, fans were going to be able to experience yet another dive into the world of Osai Academy on July 10th. This opening date was canceled due to COVID-19, however. Now, the official website for the film has announced that it will now be arriving in theaters in January of 2021.
Miho Okasaki will be joining the cast of Seitokai Yakuindomo as Yu Hirose. She joins the following returning cast members from previous entries in the series:
- Yoko Hikasa as Shino Amakusa
- Sayuri Yahagi as Suzu Hagimura
- Shintaro Asanuma as Takatoshi Tsuda
- Satomi Sato as Aria Shichijou
- Satomi Arai as Ranko Hata
- Yuu Kobayashi as Naruko Yokoshima
- Chiaki Omigawa as Mutsumi Mitsuba
- Asami Shimoda as Kotomi Tsuda
- Mutsumi Tamura as Sayaka Dejima
- Emiri Katou as Kaede Igarashi
Hiromitsu Kanazawa will be returning as the director and script supervisor for the new Seitokai Yakuindomo film, while Makoto Furuta will once again be handling character designs. Furuta will also be the chief animation director of the Seitokai Yakuindomo film. Ken Naito will be the art director, alongside color designer Ryusuke Araki and sound director Ryo Tanaka, with Yuya Mori serving as the composer for the film. Glovision is handling sound production alongside the music producer King Records.
It’s not yet known if theatergoers who purchase tickets to the new January 2021 opening of the second Seitokai Yakuindomo film will be treated to the same condom-badge giveaway that was planned for the original run of the film.
