Studio C2C has revealed more about the upcoming Reincarnated as a Sword (Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita) Season 2. Yes, we have a premiere date for one of the few unique takes on the tried-and-true isekai genre. I mean, how many other isekai series do you see where someone reincarnates as a physical object? Except the vending machine one, or the hot spring one. Well, this one has an Excalibur-level magical sword that turns a catgirl slave into a legendary warrior. Teacher and Fran return to battle on October 7th, 2026. Studio C2C will animate the anime adaptation, with Shinji Ishihira overseeing the project as director, Takahiro Nagano as writer, Atsuko Saito designing the characters, and Yasuharu Takanashi providing the adventurous anime music.
The hard-as-steel isekai protagonist and two of his friends are as follows:
- Teacher — Shinichiro Miki (James / Kojiro from Pokémon).
- Fran — Ai Kakuma (Chino from Naruto Shippuden).
- Jean Du Vix — Yuma Uchida (Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen).

Reincarnated as a Sword to Protect the Cute Catgirl!
For readers and watchers keeping track at home, Season 2 will start at light novel volume 3 and manga chapter 29. It’s a fun read because a cute girl wields the power of an isekai protagonist without herself being an isekai protagonist. A sentient magic sword teams up with a slave catgirl to fight evil — it’s great!
I hope we see something like the Demon Weapons from Soul Eater, where people can switch between weapons and people. Let Teacher stretch his legs and remember his own name. The waifu quality is pretty high, as we can see in the new PV. Fran is definitely cute, but I’m not exactly kicking the evil zombie girl out of bed, either. I bet even the main villain of the series is a looker. Can’t wait to see her.

Reincarnated as a sentient weapon with memories of his past life, but not his name, a magical sword saves a young beastgirl from a life of slavery. Fran, the cat-eared girl, becomes his wielder, and wants only to grow stronger, while the sword wants to know why he is here. Together, the strange duo’s journey has only just begun!
Yuu Tanaka released the original Reincarnated as a Sword novel series on the user-generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro between October 17th, 2015, and February 29th, 2024. Llo provided art for the light novel adaptation, which debuted on July 30th, 2016. Micro Magazine published twenty volumes in the GC Novels imprint. Tomowo Maruyama provided art for the manga adaptation, which debuted on December 9th, 2016. Gentosha published nineteen volumes in Comic Boost.
Hinako Inoue provided art for the Reincarnated as a Sword: Another Wish manga adaptation, which debuted on June 1st, 2020. Micro Magazine published all six volumes in Comic Ride. Itsuki Fujioka will provide art for the Reincarnated as a Sword: My Dish manga adaptation, which will debut on September 30th, 2026.
Studio C2C’s first anime adaptation premiered on October 5th, 2022.
