It’s been a while since we last checked in with Komari. Project No.9 has released another trailer for The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess (Hikikomari Kyūketsuki no Monmon). The new trailer highlights Komari’s past, the dangers she currently faces, and her true potential. We’ll see just how far she goes when the series premieres on October 7th, 2023.
Komari’s shut-in lifestyle was first interrupted in the pages of Kotei Kobayashi and Riichu’s light novel. The duo began writing and illustrating it, respectively, on January 11th, 2020. SB Creative has so far published eleven volumes in the GA Bunko imprint.
When she’s not voicing the vampire princess Komari, Tomori Kusunoki gives voice to Shizuka Mikazuki in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, Annette in Spy Classroom, and Leone Olfa in Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire.
Sayumi Suzushiro sounds like a good and proper maid when she voices Villhaze. Besides being the best maid ever, she has also voiced Ami Tsuruga in The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses, Annie Kerber in Undead Girl Murder Farce, and Aiko Yamagishi in My Tiny Senpai.
Sora Amamiya, whose birthday should be a national holiday, may be drawn to vampires. Besides voicing Millicent Bluenight, she has voiced Nazuna Nanakusa in Call of the Night, Yu Saegusa in Our Rainy Protocol, and Haya Magari in Insomniacs After School.
Project No.9 has set up a home page and an official Twitter page to promote The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess. SB Creative has its own home page to promote the original light novel as well. New key visuals have been provided for those looking to getting new wallpapers.
A Hikikomori Vampire Girl Born to Lead
The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess stars a vampire princess who doesn’t quite act like a vampire. Terakomari Gandesblood, known to her friends as Komari, refuses to drink blood, which has considerably weakened her. Her lack of physical and magical abilities, as well as her diminutive height, have given her a less than stellar reputation. No one expects much from her, despite her being a part of the Gandesblood family of the Mulnite Empire.
Komari’s father, the Emperor himself, pulled her out of her three-year shut-in lifestyle. She was appointed as a Commander in the Mulnite Imperial Army’s 7th Unit, known as Shichiguten. Her job is to start and win wars. The position demands a strong leader. Mostly owing to the fact that her new unit is composed of hardened criminals who are keen to rebel at the earliest opportunity.
The competent, and infatuated, maid Villhaze has offered her services. Though Komari has enough charisma to bluff her way through some things, Villhaze and other such great allies will be needed to save the day. After all, no great commander is without enemies who are ready to watch them fall.
Project No.9’s Cute Romance Series
This is another studio to watch out for. Project No.9 (were there other projects…?) has consistently put out anime series that involve cute romance blossoming between two already great characters. My Tiny Senpai needs no introduction, but it sees a short team leader fawn over her taller colleague. The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten sees another cute girl, who fawns over her neighbor.
Not all of their cute romance is as uncomplicated as that. My Stepmom’s Daughter is My Ex sees two exes unexpectedly reunite under one roof, while a neet is called out by a fellow gamer who succeeds both online and off in Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki.
If there are people out there who can’t wait for a cute vampire girl to love and adore, the J-List shop understands and can help. The Comic Unreal Vampire Nurse Maria 1/5 Figure is now available for pre-order. Sure, Re:Shimashima made a vampire nurse, but she looks like a princess to any cultured otaku.
