After a long wait, the second part of the highly anticipated 3rd season of the Attack on Titan anime series is now set to start airing from April 28 in Japan. This has been confirmed in a promotional video trailer that was streamed by Pony Canyon on Saturday.
It was also revealed that the anime series will be aired for a total of 10 episodes. This is according to the anime series’ official website.
Staff members of the Wit Studio will return for the production this includes Chief director Tetsuro Araki, director Masahi Koizuka, script supervisor Yasuko Kobayashi, assistant director Hiroyuki Tanaka, character designer Kyoji Asano, chief animation directors Satoshi Kadowaki and Kyoji Asano, and composer Hiyoruki Sawano.
The Attack on Titan anime series is based from the manga of the same name created by Hajime Isayama. The manga was released in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2009 and compiled in 26 volumes so far in Japan. Its popularity expanded to a three-season anime series and two Japanese live-action films. The franchise is a massive worldwide success with the manga volumes sold over 86 million copies in print.
Attack on Titan is focused on Eren Jaeger who enlists himself in the military of the Survey Corps in order to avenge the death of his foster mother who got eaten by a Titan during his younger years. Joining with him is his best friend Armin Arlert and adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman. Along the way, he discovers that he has the ability to create and control a Titan’s body. The story moves forward with more information and secrets about the Titans and his Eren’s past.
The first season of the anime series first aired in 2013, this was then followed by the second season aired in April 2017, and the first part of the season on July 2018.
A Hollywood film adaptation of the manga series is also confirmed and will be produced by Warner Bros. In a previous report by entertainment news website Variety last year, the company has already finalized a deal with Kodansha who will be producing the film. In addition, it has been confirmed that the director of It, Andy Muschietti will be the film’s director. His sister Barbara Muschietti (It), Masi Oka (Mega Man), and David Heyman (Harry Potter) are confirmed as producers.
With the premiere of the 2nd part of season 3 just a few months away, let’s hope it will be a good one.
