For fans of historical anime (which, really, should apply to most of us) we have some fantastic news regarding the upcoming third season of the Golden Kamuy anime adaptation!
On Monday, September 7th, the official website was updated with a brand new promotional video plus details regarding the theme song artists and a premiere date! Whew!
As you saw in the above promotional video, season three of Golden Kamuy will be coming our way on October 5th and feature the band FOMARE performing the opening theme song “Grey” while THE SIXTH LIE will perform the ending theme titled “Yusetsu”.
The third season of Golden Kamuy will feature the same cast and crew as the first two seasons. Geno Studio will continue to produce the animation with Hitoshi Nanba serving as director and Noboru Takagi supervising the scripts. Character designs will be provided by Kenichi Ohnuki and Kenichiro Suehiro will compose the background music. Meanwhile, the main characters Saichi and Asirpa will continue to be voiced by Chikahiro Kobayashi and Haruka Shiraishi, respectively.
Originally a manga created by Satoru Noda, Golden Kamuy first began running in Weekly Young Jump back in 2014. It has since been compiled into 22 volumes so far in Japan. Viz Media is releasing the manga in English and describes the story as:
In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto scratches out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. When he stumbles across a map to a fortune in hidden Ainu gold, he sets off on a treacherous quest to find it. But Sugimoto is not the only interested party, and everyone who knows about the gold will kill to possess it! Faced with the harsh conditions of the northern wilderness, ruthless criminals and rogue Japanese soldiers, Sugimoto will need all his skills and luck — and the help of an Ainu girl named Asirpa — to survive.
