If you know me, you know that I’m crazy excited for the third season of Aggretsuko to premiere on Netflix later this month, but after a lackluster second season, I have certain reservations about diving in headfirst into the third season. Luckily Netflix is understanding of this dilemma and has eased my concerns by posting a stellar promotional video during the evening hours of Thursday, August 6th.
A new season of Aggretsuko means new crushes, new gigs, new problems, new jams, and just maybe a whole new way of life. Aggretsuko season three brings back the rage August 27th! pic.twitter.com/QD54hTxIp6

That’s right, according to the promotional video that you just watched, it seems that our favorite death metal karaoke loving red panda is getting into… the idol business? This could be one of the most hilarious music genre crossovers in recent anime history!
If you haven’t gotten into Aggretsuko yet, here’s everything you need to know: the series centers on a red panda named Retsuko who lives a boring, dreary, and frustrating life as an office worker in Japan. While she has some friends at work, she’s mostly just going through the motions in her daily life and trying to survive as best she can. In the first season, Retsuko deals with a misogynistic boss and a very aloof boyfriend who can’t be bothered about much of anything. The only thing that keeps Retsuko sane is her favorite hobby: death metal karaoke.
In the second season, the primary focus was on Retsuko being pushed into getting married thanks to a well-meaning but overbearing mother. Eventually, while taking driving lessons, she meets a mysterious new man who has more going on in his life than Retsuko actually realizes.
So far, Netflix has released two full seasons and a Christmas special. The first season, which was announced in December 2017, was released worldwide in April 2018. They released the second season the following year in June 2019, with the Christmas special released before that, in December 2018.
