The day that My Hero Academia fans have been anxiously awaiting has finally arrived!
At a special advanced screening held in Tokyo this past weekend, Toho revealed a promotional video for My Hero Academia season six that will knock your socks off!
As you can see in the tense promotional video, things are heating up in the world of the heroes as the sixth season of the hit shonen series will cover the Paranormal Liberation War story arc. According to my research, this arc started in the 25th volume of the manga and continued into the 32nd. Based on the fact that the series is only just barely reaching its 35th volume (which hits store shelves in Japan on July 4th, 2022), it seems that the anime will soon be forced to take a hiatus until the manga reaches its planned conclusion (which could happen by the end of the year according to the author Kōhei Horikoshi).
My Hero Academia has been a smash hit since it started running in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014. Fast forward to 2016 and My Hero Academia successfully made the jump to television anime. It’s still funny to me that the first season was only given one cour while every season since then has been given two.
While it’s just not possible to recap five seasons’ worth of My Hero Academia in a single news article, I can certainly say that this will be a hard series to beat in the superhero genre in the future. Creating an entirely fleshed-out world where all contingencies are addressed, Horikoshi has done a fantastic job with this series and I’m already anxiously waiting to see what he works on next — after taking a much-deserved break, naturally. Until that day comes though, I’ll be waiting patiently for the anime to conclude the story!
