As I’ve said before on the J-List Blog, you know your anime has really made it when it gets its own mobile gacha game. We’ve seen it with Higurashi, My Hero Academia, and many others and now it’s time for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime to join their ranks with a new game that will be released in both Japan and the west later this year.
As you saw in the above video, the title of the game in the west will be That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Isekai Memories (while the Japanese title is translated as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Saga of How the Demon Lord and Dragon Founded a Nation. So frankly, I’m grateful for the change in title). The game’s different features will include a nation-building game, 3D battles, and a mix of stories from the anime’s first season and game original stories that are being supervised by the original author.
An official website has already launched with a pre-registration campaign which will get players all sorts of loot upon the game’s launch depending on how many people pre-register (which I will be doing as soon as I’m done submitting this article).
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has been one of the better isekai treats of the last few years in an era where every concept imaginable was being turned into an isekai. Somehow, this series managed to keep the concept fresh and breathed new life into a genre that was on its last legs.
No word on when exactly the new game will be released besides “before the end of the year” but I encourage every fan of the series to pre-register if you’re able and check out the newest adventures of Rimuru.
