Magical Girl Destroyers follows Otaku Hero, Anarchy, Pink, and Blue, a team of magical heroes who fight against the SCC, an oppressive regime that stomped out otaku culture. In 2008, a mysterious force appeared, and as a reaction to that, Japan eliminated all forms of otaku culture, such as anime, video games, manga, music, railways, and cosplay.
Years later, in 2011, Otaku Hero, an admirer of all things otaku and the otaku haven of Akihabara, leads a revolution against the SCC. Though it isn’t clear if he has any powers of his own, the three magical girls with actual powers and wild personalities, Anarchy, Blue, and Pink, adore him enough to follow him into battle. Their stated goal is to create a society where people can be free to enjoy what they like and say whatever is on their minds.
The Akiba Revolutionary Army plan to challenge the SCC leader known as Shobon to restore otaku culture throughout Japan.
Magical Girl Destroyers, known in Japan as Magical Girl Magical Destroyers, was first created by Jun Inagawa. This is an anime-original work, so there is nothing to adapt here. The voice actors, Makoto Furukawa who voices Otaku Hero, Fairouz Ai, the actress behind Anarchy, Aimi, who both voices Blue and sings the opening theme song Magical Destroyer, and Tomoyo Kurosawa, who voices Pink, have all expressed excitement about the series, and highlighted just how wild and exciting the series will be when it airs in April of 2023.
