We’ve got a pretty patriotic season of upcoming anime on our hands next month. It seems like the go-to date for anime premieres in the summer 2020 anime season is July 4th, with The Misfit of Demon King Academy already set to debut on that day. Now, as more and more upcoming anime and premieres of series that were postponed due to COVID-19 get their broadcast dates confirmed, it’s clear that July 4th won’t just be about watching fireworks and eating burgers this year. The latest series to confirm an Independence Day premiere is Lapis Re:Lights, a magical girl and idol group fusion story with a gorgeous art style and a massive cast of characters.
Alongside a new trailer for the “Magic x Idol” anime, the official Twitter account for the KLab Games and Kadokawa mixed-media franchise confirmed that the Lapis Re:LiGHTs television series will be broadcasting on Tokyo MX and BS11 at 10:00 p.m. across Japan on July 4th.
The large cast of the series, consisting of multiple groups of girls who each belong to a unique unit, is as follows:

All 20 cast members and six units in Lapis Re:LiGHTs will come together to sing the opening theme song of the anime, which is titled “Watashi-tachi no Startrail” (Our Startrail) and is credited to the group Lapis Re:LiGHTs Stars. One unit from the series, LiGHTs, will be performing the ending song “Planetarium.” Both songs are set to be released as singles on July 8th.
