Back in December, the J-List blog reported that the popular iyashikei series Laid Back Camp (YuruCamp) would be entering the virtual reality world this year with the release of two “games” which would allow users to camp out with the characters from this series in two different settings.
Thanks to a follow-up report which hit the Internet on Tuesday, January 19th, we can now reveal that both games will be released this spring. The first one to be released will be the Motosu Lake version which will hit virtual reality sets in March, followed by the Fumoto Camp Site version which will hit in April.
Part of this announcement is a brand new promotional video that reveals even more of what you can do with these characters in the virtual realm. Both games will be released on PS4, Switch, iOS, Android, and Steam. They will support the PSVR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Switch VR. We can also report that they will be released with Japanese audio with the following languages supported in text format: English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, and French.
Based on the manga created by Afro, the series features a group of girls who grow closer through the hobby of outdoor winter camping. The manga series has been licensed by Yen Press and Crunchyroll licensed the anime.
Laid Back Camp is very much an iyashikei (healing) series with very calm tones and gentle laughs to help you get through your weekly grind. The series opens with a girl named Nadeshiko who passes out after trying to reach Mt. Fuji in the winter. When she wakes up, she finds out that she’s been saved by a girl named Rin who loves winter camping on her own as a hobby. The pair instantly become fast friends and begin to share the unique hobby together while making new friends along the way. So far, the manga series has eleven collected volumes on shelves in Japan.
The second season of the anime (which is being hailed as a worthy successor to the first season) premiered this month and is being simulcast by Crunchyroll.
