KimiSen Fantasy Anime Releases a Pair of Character Videos

Set to premiere in October on Funimation, the fantasy anime series Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World (Japanese title: Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, Arui wa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen or “KimiSen“) has released not one promotional video but two promotional videos introducing the world to the main characters.

Originally a light novel series written by Kei Sazane and illustrated by Ao Nekonabe, the series has been in print in Japan since May 2017 and has nine volumes in print as well as a short story collection. Yen Press is releasing the series in English and describes the story as:

A great war has raged for years between the scientifically advanced Empire and Nebulis, the realm of the witches — until the youngest knight ever to receive the title of the Empire’s strongest meets the princess of the rival nation. Though they are sworn enemies, the knight is taken by her beauty and dignity, and the princess is moved by his strength and way of life. Will the fighting between them ever be allowed to end?

Produced by studio Silver Link, the series will be jointly directed by Shin Ōnuma and Mirai Minato. They will work off series composition from Kento Shimoyama and character designs adapted for the anime by Kaori Sato. Music group Elements Garden will be providing the background music. Meanwhile, the lead roles will be played by Yūsuke Kobayashi as the hero Iska, and playing opposite him will be Sora Amamiya as the heroine Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX.

KimiSen is set to premiere in Japan on October 7th.

To me, this kind of sounds like a sword and sorcery version of Romeo and Juliet which, let’s be honest, actually sounds pretty cool. This series wasn’t on my radar before today, but I might just have to check this one out once it premieres on Funimation.
