Of all the anime airing in Japan and on streaming services in October, one of the most exciting titles has to be Jujutsu Kaisen. Based on the incredible Shonen Jump manga of the same name by Gege Akutami, this anime is shaping up to be an incredible hit thanks to the jaw-dropping talent attached to it. With legendary studio MAPPA and rising star Sunghoo Park directing it, there’s plenty of promise behind the show. Even more jaw-dropping than the incredible creators working on the show, though, is the new set of characters revealed for the anime today. Specifically, the giant magical panda who can speak. His name is Panda. Yeah.
As revealed on the official website for the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, Panda belongs to the 2nd-year class at Magic Tech College. While he seems like a pretty standard panda at first glance, he’s actually a cursed and metamorphosed creature who is capable of speaking with humans. Panda is voiced by Tomokazu Seki, and joins the other recently revealed Magic Tech College students Toge Inukami and Maki Zenin. Kouki Uchiyama voices Inumaki, while Zenin is voiced by Mikako Komatsu.
Previously announced cast members for Jujutsu Kaisen include:
- Junya Enoki as Yūji Itadori
- Yūma Uchida as Megumi Fushiguro
- Asami Seto as Nobara Kugisaki
- Yūichi Nakamura as Satoru Gojō
- Junichi Suwabe as Sukuna Ryōmen
The anime adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen is being animated by legendary studio MAPPA, recently responsible for hits like Dorohedoro, Banana Fish, Yuri!!! on Ice, and Zombieland Saga. Sunghoo Park, director of the currently airing anime The God of High School, will be directing this upcoming manga adaptation. Scriptwriting and supervision are being handled by Hiroshi Seko, who previously worked on Attack on Titan: Lost Girls, Banana Fish, and Vinland Saga. Tadashi Hiramatsu, the artist previously responsible for character design work in His and Her Circumstances, Yuri!!! on Ice, and Parasyte -the maxim-, will be designing the characters for this anime. Music composition is being handled by Hiroaki Tsutsumi, Yoshimasa Terui, and Arisa Okehazama.
