Some unwelcome news has come to J-List from the Japanese postal service: Japan Post is halting Airmail and EMS shipping temporarily to the U.S. and territories due to the ongoing challenges of the Coronavirus situation. (SAL shipping had already been halted several weeks ago.) This means that DHL is the only shipping option for customers in the U.S. Happily, DHL has proven to be an extremely reliable shipping service, getting packages to our customers quickly and accurately, with full tracking available from your phone. And best of all, for most products DHL cheaper than EMS…and we’ve got a new DHL coupon (ILOVEDHL) that gives you an extra 10% off your DHL shipping! (NOTE: The DHL coupon is now automatic!)
UPDATE: While we previously had only shipped DHL to the U.S. and Canada, we’ve expanded the countries we can ship to via DHL. See the post below for more details.
We’re maintaining a complete list of countries we currently ship to on this blog post. Look below answers to some questions you may have!
Why are these shipping delays happening?
As Japan tries to slow the virus, pretty much every organization is running with fewer staff, and shipments of packages between prefectures are reduced. Biggest of all, the number of flights traveling from Japan to the U.S. has been greatly reduced, which is the primary reason Japan Post has halted outgoing shipments to the U.S.
Are there any health issues to be concerned about?
Naturally, people are concerned about these issues when ordering packages from Asia. As I outlined in this post, J-List is taking your health and safety very seriously, with all our staff wearing masks and using alcohol-based hand sanitizer during picking and packing. All our products are sterile, having been manufactured many months ago, and are encased multiple layers of plastic packaging. Adult toys are made in Japan and are sealed in airtight bags, packed in a secure box, then shrink-wrapped. Every product J-List ships out are safe.
I Live in Canada, the U.K., France, Germany, the Netherlands, etc. Can you Ship to Me?
Japan Post is still shipping Airmail and EMS (not SAL) to many countries. The complete list of countries we currently ship to is here.
I made a SAL order and it was returned. What should I do?
After Japan Post stopped accepting SAL — Surface Air-Lift, the slowest but lowest-cost shipping method — packages, they returned about one hundred already-shipped packages to us, which are sitting in our office now. We contacted customers explaining the situation and asking if we could re-ship the packages via DHL, with a shipping discount coupon. If you have a pending order, check for an email from J-List, or open a ticket and tell our staff what we should do. Please note that preorders (such as preorder figures shipping many months in the future) might see some delays but should eventually come in as expected.
Thanks for reading our post about Japan Post halting shipping to the U.S. J-List is in business and will continue shipping packages through DHL and serving all our customers. Remember that you get these awesome Megumi Support Stickers when you order, too!
