It’s Time to Cull! Jujutsu Kaisen Returns on January 8

It’s a marvelous time (uma pun intended) to be a shonen fan because the “Culling Game” is about to begin! Jujutsu Kaisen’s third season is premiering on January 8 with an hour-long special. The premiere will include the first two episodes of the upcoming season. Season three’s first two episodes previously screened in theaters as part of the Jujutsu Kaisen Execution theatrical compilation movie.

The announcement came during the ongoing 2026 edition of Jump Festa. Alongside the season’s premiere date, the anime’s production company released new voice cast information and a trailer. King Gnu will perform Jujutsu Kaisen’s third season opening theme titled “AIZO.” The newly announced voice cast includes:

Kazuya Nakai as Kinji Hakari
Niko as Kogane
Satoshi Tsuruoka as Fumihiko Takaba
Tomokazu Sugita as Hiromi Higuruma
Yuki Sakakihara as Kirara Hoshi
Yutaka Aoyama as Reggie Star

Jujutsu Kaisen Details

Jujutsu Kaisen’s third season will adapt the “Culling Game Arc” of Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga. Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Manga serialized the series from March 2018 to September 2024. The manga is a sequel to Akutami-sensei’s Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School (Jujutsu Kaisen 0). Shueisha has compiled the manga into 30 tankoubon volumes. Viz Media publishes the English version of the series in North America; the English version is also available via Shueisha’s Manga Plus.

Akutami-sensei’s manga has received adaptations into two novels, a video game (Cursed Clash), and a MAPPA-produced anime. Weekly Shonen Jump began serializing the sequel manga Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo back in September.

Jujutsu Kaisen follows Yuji Itadori. Living in a world filled with curses and sorcerers, Yuji’s claim to fame is that he’s a dude who had another dude’s fingers inside of him and ended up possessed by that dude (the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna). But despite having one of the most powerful beings in him, Yuji can (mostly) keep control over his body. That ability lands Yuji in the hallowed halls of the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, where he must adapt to the life of a jujutsu sorcerer quickly.
