Despite the series being voted one of the worst isekai anime ever, I openly admit that I very much enjoyed How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord when it aired back in 2018 and have been not so secretly pining for a second season. You can imagine my shock and joy when the J-List blog reported back in April 2020 that a second season was indeed going to happen. Now, after months of waiting, we can all end this year right by watching the very first promotional video for How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω (make sure you watch to the very last second).
As you saw in the promotional video, Diablo is going to get at least a couple of new harem members, including what appears to be a bunny girl. The new cast members are as follows (character names first):
Lumachina Weselia: Miku Ito
Rose: Aoi Koga
Horn: Fumiko Uchimura
Fanis Laminitus: Chinatsu Akasaki
It was also revealed that the series will premiere in April 2021.
Now, what worries me about this series is that the crew is being shaken up quite a bit. Satoshi Kuwabara will direct the new season (replacing Yūta Murano). In addition, the studio is changing from Aija-Do Animation to being a joint production from studios Tezuka Productions and Okuru to Noboru.
The good news is that the main cast will return to reprise their roles along with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu who will once again be handling the series composition. Character designs will be provided by Shizue Kaneko, who is also returning from season one.
Originally a light novel series written by Yukiya Murasaki and illustrated by Takahiro Tsurusaki, How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord has been running in Japan since December 2014, with thirteen volumes published as of this year. The novels are currently being published in English by J-Novel Club. The first anime adaptation aired in 2018, with Funimation streaming the series as it aired.
