If this isn’t the most spot-on case of one-upmanship I’ve ever seen, I don’t know what is.
Earlier this month on the J-List blog, I reported on a fully anime-themed hotel in Tokyo which featured rooms themed after various anime series. In this story, I’m reporting on a hotel in Tokyo that not only has anime-themed rooms but also anime characters working at the front desk!
For those of you who need that extra dose of moe with your customer service, the Hen na Hotel (which literally translates to “Weird Hotel”) Asakusa Tawaramachi, in Tokyo’s Asakusa neighborhood, will have three girls from the hit series Idolmaster working their front desk in holographic form.
Not only will you be checked in by a bonafide holographic idol, but the lobby, rooftop terrace, hotel restaurant and bar, and all 217 guestrooms in the building will be decked out in Idolmaster themes and the televisions in the room will play Idolmaster anime, including some all-new animations exclusive to the hotel!
No word on if the collaboration will extend to a special menu for the hotel restaurant, but it is being reported that there will be special Idolmaster goods available to purchase including luggage tags, reusable shopping bags, and much more.
The Idolmaster collaboration will only run in this particular hotel branch from January 14th to February 15th, 2021, but you can make your reservation for one of these Idolmaster rooms starting on October 30th, 2020.
I’m more of a Love Live! fan so I can’t say that I’ll be rushing out to check-in at this hotel just so that I can be waited on by moe idols and watch some exclusive anime, but if you are a fan of the franchise and you need a hotel that can also boast a great location among its amenities, you could probably do much worse than this branch of Hen na Hotel.
