The official website for the 20th film of the Dragon Ball franchise announced that the upcoming Dragon Ball Super film is slated to screen in Japan on December 14.
The first cast members were revealed and consist of:
- Director: Tatsuya Nagamine (One Piece Film Z)
- Character Design and Script: Akira Toriyama (Creator of Dragon Ball)
- Animation Director: Naohiro Shintani (Dragon Ball: Yo! The Return of Son-Goku and Friends!!, One Piece Film Z)
- Art Director: Kazuo Ogura (Blood-C: The Last Dark)

Dragon Ball Super is a Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation that began airing on July 5, 2015. Its overall plot outline is written by Dragon Ball franchise creator Akira Toriyama, while the individual episodes are written by different screenwriters. It is also a manga series illustrated by Toyotarou, serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine V Jump. The anime is a sequel to Toriyama’s original Dragon Ball manga and the Dragon Ball Kai television series featuring the first new storyline in 18 years. It is broadcast on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. on Fuji TV.
Dragon Ball Super follows the adventures of Goku and his friends, after defeating Majin Buu and bringing peace to Earth once again. Goku encounters beings far more powerful and attains the power of a god. He defends the Earth against the powerful destructive deities and travels to other universes to face more powerful opponents, as well as nearly unstoppable foes, while learning his newly discovered powers under the gods of the universe.
Dragon Ball Super synopsis:
Seven years after the events of Dragon Ball Z, Earth is at peace, and its people live free from any dangers lurking in the universe. However, this peace is short-lived; a sleeping evil awakens in the dark reaches of the galaxy: Beerus, the ruthless God of Destruction.
Disturbed by a prophecy that he will be defeated by a “Super Saiyan God,” Beerus and his angelic attendant Whis start searching the universe for this mysterious being. Before long, they reach Earth where they encounter Gokuu Son, one of the planet’s mightiest warriors, and his similarly powerful friends.
