Some people have a tough time fitting in at school. A single sentence can set the tone for the next few years. Jogoro and Yuki don’t fit in, and mysterious incidents around town thwart their attempts. We’ll see what becomes of them when How to Become Ordinary (Shoshimin Series) premieres on July 7th, 2024. Eve performs the opening theme song, “Sweet Memory,” and ammo performs the ending theme song, “I Tokenai.” Let’s enjoy the new trailer until the air date.
Honobu Yonezawa released the original How to Become Ordinary novel series on December 24th, 2004. Tokyo Sogensha has since published five volumes in the Sogen Mystery Bunko imprint.
Our two outcast students are as follows:
- Jogoro Kobato — Shuichiro Umeda (Yuuki Izumi in Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie). The keen-eyed student’s deductions have annoyed his classmates.
- Yuki Osanai — Hina Yomiya (Shinju Inui from My Dress-Up Darling). The shy and insightful girl struggles to fit in with her peers.
Lapin Track has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote How to Become Ordinary. You can find additional series information and the Key Visuals there.
How to Become Ordinary While Investigating the Extraordinary
Jogoro Kobato is a brilliant student who can make keen deductions. His gift became a curse after one of his deductions led to a painful experience. Jogoro’s peers don’t quite enjoy his “wisdom work” either. He’s determined to have a peaceful and ordinary school life. His plans lead him to Yuki Osanai. She is an insightful but debilitatingly shy girl with similar school aspirations.
They form a partnership to enter high school and present an ordinary facade to make friends. Their trips to eat pastries become a typical occurrence as their bond forms. Jogoro’s and Yuki’s plans for a peaceful life are upended when mysterious incidents unfold around them.
