Back in March, we reported on the upcoming April 7th premiere of adorable fishing club anime Hōkago Teibō Nisshi. The show would go on to be picked up for global release by Funimation, who simulcasted the series with English subtitles staring April 7th, under the name Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater. Unfortunately, like many anime that premiered around that time, the sudden struggles surrounding the spread of COVID-19 across Japan led to the show’s postponement. Now, Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater is making its return as the state of emergency in Japan is lifted. It is set to restart broadcasting on July 7th.
After the third episode of Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater aired, it was announced that the fourth episode and onward would be delayed due to the effects of the spread of COVID-19 on the production of the anime. Now, the series will restart its broadcast from the first episode on AT-X, Tokyo MX, and MBS on July 7th, with a July 8th broadcast on BS11, and a July 10th broadcast on RKK Kumamoto Housou. Around the same time, it will also restart online streaming in Japan via dAnime Store, AbemaTV, and other online services. If you’re looking to wait until brand new episodes release, the as-of-yet unaired fourth episode of the series is now on track to debut on July 28th.
The cast of four main characters in Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater is as follows:
- Kanon Takao as Hina Tsurugi
- Natsumi Kawaida as Natsumi Hodaka
- Yū Sasahara as Yūki Kuroiwa
- Satomi Akesaka as Makoto Ohno
The anime is being produced by Doga Kobo, with Takaharu Okuma set to direct it. Okuma previously worked on Uzamaid! and Himouto! Umaruchan. Fumihiko Shimo, who previously worked on How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? and Anima Yell!, is in charge of series composition. Katsuhiro Kumagai, previously a staff member on Gabriel DropOut and Luck & Logic, will be the character designer for the series. Miki Sakurai, the composer for The Quintessential Quintuplets, will be composing the music for Hōkago Teibō Nisshi.
