The manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is an absolute smash hit across the globe, inspiring a variety of projects like a theatrical film, a mobile game, and even a full-fledged console game. Of course, the biggest project to spawn from Koyoharu Gotouge’s incredible samurai manga is the wildly popular anime adaptation produced by Ufotable. While the first season of the anime finished airing last year, the English dub of the series is currently underway, airing weekly on Toonami. As the English dub gets closer to a major arc of the story, Aniplex of America has released a new trailer revealing a very important crew of new cast members joining the anime.
In Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the Hashira are an incredibly powerful group of nine, skilled samurai. Specifically, they are the strongest nine samurai in the entire Demon Slayer Corps. As such, they’re a pretty big deals in the story, and major characters like these deserve some major voice talent. The new voice actors set to join the show as members of the Hashira include:
- Mark Whitten as Kyojuro Rengoku
- Ray Chase as Tengen Uzui
- Kira Buckland as Mitsuri Kanroji
- Crispin Freeman as Gyomei Himejima
- Griffin Burns as Muichiro Tokito
- Erik Scott Kimerer as Iguro Obanai
- Kaiji Tang as Sanemi Shinazugawa
They join Johnny Yong Bosch as Giyu Tomioka and Erika Harlacher as Shinobu Kocho, two other members of the Hashira in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Aniplex of America describes the story of the anime as follows:
It is the Taisho Period in Japan. Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon. To make matters worse, his younger sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself.
Though devastated by this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a “demon slayer” so that he can turn his sister back into a human, and kill the demon that massacred his family.
