Day one of Anime Expo is behind us, all the staff at the J-List / JAST USA / J18 Publishing booth are all super tired… and super energized, because it’s so much fun being back with everyone at the world’s premier anime event. Let’s look at what fun stuff we saw today!
Highlights from Day 1 of Anime Expo at the J-List Booth!
After two years, we’re happy that Anime Expo has finally returned, and J-List is here in a big way! You can find all the great products we brought for you at booth #4841, in the 18+ section! We promise you won’t be disappointed!
You can’t have Anime Expo without lines, and the line to get into the convention this morning. Happily, the weather is on the cool side in L.A. this week.
We brought a ton of stock to show everyone, mostly the high-quality doujinshi, tankoubon format manga, and artbooks. We’ve got several released-for-Anime-Expo products we’ve got for you at the booth, some come check them out. The runaway hit of the show has been the Art of Kantoku dual artbook set we just brought out.
One thing I love about talking with J-List customers is hearing their opinions about what hentai and other products from Japan. Do they like or hate NTR, and if so, why? What “forbidden” themes in hentai are they intrigued by? Why are “vanilla” stories good, if they are? I had many interesting discussions today.
Everyone loves to get free stuff at a con, and we’ve got lots for you, from free hentai masks from J18 Publishing to the classic J-List tissues and a new Megumi sticker.
Everyone seems to love the J-List bags we bring every year, and this year we have colorful new ones, both for J-List and JAST. Come by the booth and get one!
Sales of the Muramasa figure were a little slow until I remembered the figure was a “cast off.” Once I exposed her boobs, the figures started flying off the table. I have no idea why!
And we had our first panel! The J18 Publishing panel was great, with lots of detailed information about all the hard work that goes into porting Japan’s amazing hentai doujinshi and manga into English in the most natural way possible. It was very educational and fun!

There’s nothing like dressing up in cosplay during an anime convention, and I had fun walking around randomly finding cosplayers to take photos of. We hope to find more cosplayers tomorrow!
