Rimuru fans around the world have an additional reason to celebrate as Crunchyroll has revealed their plans to release the upcoming movie That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime The Movie: Scarlet Bond to theaters around the world (excluding Asia) in early 2023!
While we don’t have firm details regarding territories or an exact release date, we do have an English subtitled promotional video to whet your appetites!
What’s interesting about both this announcement and the original movie announcement (which we reported on a few months ago) is just how secretive they are being regarding the story of the movie. So far, all we know is a scant few details revealed in the quoted synopsis below:
A long-running conspiracy is swirling over a mysterious power known as “Queen” in Raja, a small country west of Tempest. When a slime who evolved into a Demon Lord named Rimuru Tempest crosses paths with Hiiro, a survivor of the Ogre race, an incredible adventure packed with new characters begins. The power of bonds will be put to the test!
That is some vague wording that makes me wonder where this story is going to go. New characters are always welcome, but seeing as how this is an anime-original story, I get the feeling that these new characters are only going to be important for as long as the movie runs.
Regardless, I’m excited to see the next chapter of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. I’ve been following the adventures of the over-powered little slime for this long, I certainly might as well keep going until it gives me a very good reason not to (which I don’t see happening at any point in the near or even the distant future). Rimuru Tempest, you have my undivided attention!
