No one can deny that the Cells at Work! series is incredibly cute. From everyone’s favorite delivery girl Red Blood Cell, the adorable Platelets, and the elegant and deadly Macrophages, fans all over the world have learned about the inner workings of the human body in an easy to digest format. Now Cells at Work! has plans to get even cuter with a new spin-off titled Cells at Work! BABY, which debuts on October 17th.
While the Cells at Work! series actually has several spin-offs, including Bacteria at Work, Platelets at Work, and Cells That Don’t Work, this new series will focus on the cells belonging to a baby, from conception to delivery. The series will premiere in Kodansha’s Morning magazine. A preview page posted by artist Yasuhiro Fukuda on Twitter showcases Baby Red Blood Cell ready and raring to go on a brand new adventure.

However, all these cells are brand new, so it stands to reason they’ll need a lot of help. Luckily, they’ll get it in the form of adult cells coming from the mother, where they bring oxygen and nutrients to help these young cells grow into their respective roles inside the body.
You can see these adult cells from the mother in the background, most likely gowned up for the protection of the baby cells. The preview spread also holds a few fun surprises, such as learning exactly how small and cute Platelets can get, as well as a peek at a very frazzled looking Baby White Blood Cell.
So far, it looks like this new spinoff is shaping up to be both adorable and informative. Hopefully, it makes its way to English audiences as well. It also looks like a great way to become familiar with the series in general, and a fun stopgap for fans who are waiting for more of the manga and Season 2 of the anime.
