Given the current circumstances, there’s a lot of people who have considered this year so far a wash. Never fear, though! News has arrived about two of our favorite animes to give people another reason to eagerly wait for next year.
First off, Paru Itagaki’s smash hit manga BEASTARS managed to charm audiences worldwide when the anime adaptation premiered on Netflix Japan in October of last year, and in early March of this year for audiences outside Japan. Fans ate up the story of literal teen wolf Legoshi and his dwarf rabbit crush Haru. Usually, with a production heavy CGI anime such as this, fans could be waiting quite a while for news of a new season, but by the powers of Netflix, the show’s official website has revealed that Season 2 of the series is slated for sometime in 2021. While no new key art is available just yet, the website did show off character art for members of the feared Shishigumi Gang, Ibuki and Free.
Next up comes a show that couldn’t be more timely: Cells at Work! After the first season of the anime premiered in 2018, the show went dark, except for a very special episode during last summer’s round of heatwaves in Japan, and the announcement at Anime Japan last year that Season 2 was in production. Thankfully, Aniplex and David Productions have more than made up for the lack of news with a new preview trailer for the season.

Old friends return, new friends are made, there are new bacteria to fight, and it looks like White Blood Cell has a cute sidekick to fight alongside?! What is that strange little bean creature and where did it come from? Thankfully we won’t have to wait long for answers, as the new Cells at Work! season is slated for January of 2021. Though I suppose the only question that really needs answering is if Red Blood Cell still has no sense of direction.
